Toxic Elements screen - blood


Indications:

A screen of toxic elements using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). This screen includes 16 elements (aluminium, antimony, arsenic, barium, beryllium, cadmium, chromium cobalt, lead, manganese, mercury, molybdenum, nickel, selenium, thallium and tin).

Patient Instructions:

It is recommended that you omit fish and shellfish from your diet for 5-7 days prior to having your blood sample collected as these have been shown to temporarily increase the excretion of toxic metals.

Mineral containing nutritional supplements should also be avoided on the day of the test.
